Vitamin K plays an important role in helping the blood clot. It prevents from excessive bleeding. Vitamin K is actually a group of compounds, that is K1 and K2. Vitamin K1 is obtained or present in leafy greens and other vegetables while K2 is mainly in eggs, meat, cheese and synthesized by bacteria. Some research suggest K2 can help people with osteoporosis problem.
Low level of vitamin K risks the following sickness :
- Have disease that effect the absorption in the digestive tract, such as Crohn's disease.
- Taking drugs that interfere with vitamin K absorption. ( such as warfarin drug)
- Drink alcohol heavily
- Severely malnourished
Taking more green vegetables, leafy vegetables, green fruits helps to stock-up vitamin K. So, help yourself with daily enough/sufficient intake of fresh leafy vegetables. Liver would definitely love them!!
